The brief from Southwark Council for their October Black History Month programme was to produce a print and online Poster, Brochure and Postcard campaign, to illustrate the theme of Black History : Past, Present and Future.
After looking at various options with the client, they decided on local history as the basis of building a strong visual campaign by focusing on individuals in the borough who have contributed positively to the success of Southwark. We commissioned Artistic Portrait photographer Franklyn Rodgers to produce a series of exciting images which reflected inspiring Southwark residents from the past, present, and those young people who are contributing to its future. The success of this approach prompted Southwark Council to use these images as a borough wide touring exhibition throughout its libraries and schools.
